One space or two after a sentence?
This is a question that is hotly debated in writing circles. However, if you’re in favor of the two spaces after a sentence you really should think your opinion.
According to Brian Klems at Writer’s Digest Magazine and the author of the article, How Many Spaces After a Sentence he says the notion of two spaces has been replaced with the current standing single space after a sentence.
The old “two-space” rule after a sentence was used with typesetting when the extra space was needed to see the separation of sentences. Now, computers and numerous fonts make it easier to see the space after a sentence.
If you’re a die-hard fan of the “two-space” rule now is the time to join the “one-space” club and go back and delete that extra space.
For a quicker way to delete that space, follow the tip in Klem’s article.
